Career
Birgit began her music career in the late 1990s with the singles A Little Famous and Maybe the Wine. In 2001, she achieved her breakthrough with the hit I Know and the album Few Like Me, which earned two Edison Award nominations. This was followed by albums including Sticky Tales, True Stories I Made Up, which was also released in the United States, and A Fool for Love. In 2024, she released her first Dutch-language album, Struikelen, accompanied by a theatre tour of the same name.
Alongside her music career, Birgit built an impressive body of work as an actress. She appeared in films including Floris, De Eetclub, Lotus, Rokjesdag and Pijnstillers, and in television series such as Flikken Maastricht, Meisje van Plezier, Casanova’s and De Mannentester. She also presented programmes for Fox Kids and TMF.
In theatre, Birgit played leading roles in musicals and stage productions including De Jantjes, Sexual Perversity, The Last 5 Years, for which she won a John Kraaijkamp Musical Award, Vijftig Tinten… de Parodie and Struikelen. In addition to performing, she has also worked as a writer and translator, always with a keen eye for substance, detail and the wider story.
