America Michiel has been living in America for ten years and shows the country through his own eyes. In 2014, VPRO aired the television documentary My America. He presents the world of the rich and powerful, such as his own American family, but also the country of the very poor, for whom the so-called American Dream often turns out to be a nightmare. He contrasts the America of the super-rich “1%” with that of the poor or impoverished “99%,” and notes that, as “a kid from Groningen,” he feels uncomfortable with the extremes of this wealth gap. In addition, he regularly takes part in political panels from the NASDAQ stock exchange in Times Square. Together with Beau van Erven Dorens, Michiel Vos appears in the popular Videoland series Beau en Michiel in Amerika. Documentary maker Michiel is a documentary filmmaker at American HBO together with his wife Alexandra Pelosi.
