Science & Technology
Her affinity with science began at TNO and Delft University of Technology, where she started her career. She then switched to journalism. She worked for Cobouw, the daily newspaper for the construction industry, wrote for the popular science magazine NWT (now New Scientist), and worked in television for the knowledge quiz. She eventually worked as an independent science journalist for ten years, writing for national newspapers (Volkskrant, NRC, Algemeen Dagblad, and Parool) and magazines (De Ingenieur, Libelle, Marie Claire, and Opzij).
Moderator
She has worked as a moderator in the Netherlands and abroad for many years. She enjoys speaking in front of a full audience, but is equally happy to welcome guests into a studio for an engaging conversation. She enjoys thinking conceptually about the program, asking sharp questions, and distilling key themes. Desiree ensures an insightful conversation in which everyone has the opportunity to participate.
