Heleen Hagelaar was motivated by inequality to become a change management expert, but she wanted a way to combine creativity with inspiring people toward change. She chose the media and now works as a freelance editor, podcast producer, and moderator. Over time, she has built an extensive network and has conceived, shaped, and led many conversations. With her energetic and positive approach, she engages the audience so everyone feels involved. Think of it as “activism light”—as a moderator, Heleen aims to create positive impact and send participants home inspired.
Editor
As a freelance editor, Heleen has worked in a variety of settings. She was a culture editor for the talk show M and covered current events for Khalid & Sophie. As a podcast editor and director, she has worked on topics such as health, youth issues, and human-interest stories. Driven by her desire to address inequality and her curiosity about people, she ensures everyone has the opportunity to share their story. As an editor, she manages a conversation from start to finish.
Podimo Headlines
Heleen is one of four hosts on the new news podcast Headlines on Podimo. Every weekday, listeners are updated on the most important domestic and international news. The team is responsible for the entire episode—from research to presentation and editing.
Moderator
As a moderator, Heleen listens, filters, and guides discussions. She operates on the principle that asking questions challenges assumptions and never shies away from difficult topics. Her welcoming manner invites interaction, and her humor engages the audience. She enjoys collaborating in the preparation of an event.
Change Management Expert
With a master’s degree in Organizations, Change, and Management, Heleen is skilled in applying different conversation techniques and quickly perceives group dynamics. She thrives in dynamic environments and can improvise when needed. Her studies taught her what it takes to achieve social impact and how politics, leadership, and culture influence change. There is no blueprint for change; it requires people, meaning, and interactions—insight, analysis, and creativity are key. She brings these lessons to her role as a moderator.
