Over more than ten years as a radio presenter at NPO 3FM and Radio Veronica, Herman progressed from overnight broadcasting to daytime programming and developed into a relaxed and engaging presenter and interviewer. Within just a few questions, he gets to the heart of what truly matters. This may well be rooted in the environment in which he grew up: near Rotterdam, in a Calvinist family where superficiality was quickly challenged and dry humour was seen as a way to connect, whether people knew each other well or not.

Herman as a Moderator

On stage, Herman’s style is relaxed and personable without losing sight of the content. He instinctively understands how this approach can help bring out the story that needs to be told. He demonstrated the same quality on radio: in 2015, the RadioRing jury praised his presenting style and awarded him the Marconi Award for Upcoming Talent.

Despite his relaxed manner, Herman is a perfectionist who prepares every assignment down to the finest detail. Clients can expect quality because he simply does not work any other way. During the briefing, he carefully explores what the event requires and ensures that he delivers accordingly.

Podcasting

Herman applies his extensive experience in audio through his podcast production company. His own podcast, De Klassieker, brings together a Feyenoord supporter, Herman, and an Ajax supporter to preview and review De Klassieker four times a year.

He also developed the Netherlands’ first guided breathing meditation podcast, which attracts thousands of streams every month. In this work, he combines his sharp editorial perspective with his radio experience to ensure that each story reaches the right audience as effectively as possible.

Sessions

In this workshop on music and time, Herman explores how closely the two are connected. He looks at rhythm, which is shaped by the duration and timing of notes, and demonstrates how taking the time to listen more consciously can completely change the way music is experienced and understood.
