Hugo Kennis is a chef, presenter and actor. With his energetic presence, creative mind and love of food, he inspires a broad audience. For Hugo, cooking is more than a skill. It is a form of expression and connection. His ambition to live self sufficiently is increasingly taking shape, with his own vegetable garden, greenhouse and chickens in the backyard. Hugo combines his culinary passion with his background in theatre, bringing every stage, from kitchen island to conference hall, to life in his own distinctive way.
Career
Hugo trained as a chef and studied Hospitality Management in Eindhoven and Tilburg. At the same time, he developed his second passion at the Musical and Theatre Academy in Tilburg, where he further refined his acting skills. After performing in musicals for several years, he decided to focus fully on his love of cooking.
Together with Marius and Jasper Gottlieb, Hugo was part of the well known cooking trio De Worsten van Babel, known for their successful programme De Worsten van Babel on Tour on 24Kitchen. He also created his own programmes, including Hugo maakt Kennis, and was the resident chef on 5 Uur Live. He can currently be seen daily as a chef on the RTL 4 programme Eigen Huis & Tuin: Lekker Leven. In 2020, he also published two cookbooks: ’t Waanzinnige Kinderkookboek, together with Mark Haayema, and De Worsten van Babel koken overal.
