About Jochem Uytdehaage

Former speed skater Jochem Uytdehaage made history by being the first to complete the 10,000 meters in under 13 minutes, setting a world record and winning a gold Olympic medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. At those same Games, he also won gold in the 5,000 meters and a silver medal in the 1,500 meters. He is also a two-time European Allround Champion and a two-time World Champion. A true athlete who knows what it takes to achieve peak performance, and who also understands the downside of that pursuit.

Uytdehaage officially retired from competitive speed skating in February 2007 at the World Allround Championships in Thialf. However, sports remain a central thread throughout his life. His early goal was Olympic gold; today, his mission is to help people live a richer life. He does this as a speaker, trainer, and coach in Personal Energy Management. He is also active with Sporttop, a foundation founded by Jochem to support sports talents through mentoring by (former) top athletes and companies. Additionally, he is an ambassador for the Dutch Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the related Skate4AIR.
