Marloes Coenen started practicing self-defense as a young girl and grew into one of the greatest pioneers in mixed martial arts (MMA). She competed at the highest level for seventeen years, became the first female MMA world champion in Tokyo, and later won multiple world titles in the United States. Her journey was intense and at times relentless. For years, Marloes unknowingly pushed beyond her limits, but these experiences led to tremendous personal growth, self-awareness, and resilience. Today, she shares these lessons with a wide range of professionals and teams.
Marloes as a Speaker
As a fighter, you learn how to deal with resistance, make decisions under pressure, and discover who you truly are. In her keynotes, Marloes combines her personal story with insights on perseverance, balancing rational thinking and emotions, and the importance of creating genuine connections with yourself and others. She works in an interactive, energetic, and accessible way, showing audiences how to recognize and use the fighter within themselves. The DO — the path you follow in your personal development — serves as her guiding principle.
The DO in Practice
For Marloes, every environment is a DOJO: a place where you learn, grow, and discover your own path. Teams that want to experience this themselves can participate in a clinic. Through themed MMA exercises and a customized mind map, participants work on awareness, confidence, and collaboration. Everyone participates at their own level, creating an experience that is both safe and challenging. Together, teams build a new DO, where development and enjoyment are at the heart of the experience.
