About Maurice Seleky

Maurice Seleky is an author, presenter and communication strategist. Seleky graduated in Dutch Law from the University of Amsterdam and obtained a propaedeutic diploma from the Netherlands Film and Television Academy. He also completed the BKB Academy, a renowned series of masterclasses on political campaigns and media strategy.

Presenter and Moderator

As a presenter or moderator, Maurice makes programmes, talk shows, symposia, debates, seminars, conferences, podcasts and television programmes accessible and attractive to a broad audience. Seleky has an energetic presentation style, broad interests and a portfolio of hundreds of programmes. In addition, he contributes both substantively and in terms of format to the development of successful programmes for clients. Topics and themes in which he has built extensive experience as a discussion leader include urban challenges, art and culture, the book world, fashion, film, media, youth culture, music, diversity and inclusion, history and heritage, the creative industry and politics.

A Career in the Creative Industry

Although trained as a lawyer, Maurice chose a career in the creative industry. He worked as a PR and communication strategist at Coebergh Communicatie & PR and Vandejong Creative Agency, and was a partner at Novel Creative Consultancy. From November 2017 to March 2020, he was Head of Marketing and Communications at Pakhuis de Zwijger, the independent platform for innovation and creation in Amsterdam. Since 1 April 2020, Seleky has been Head of Communications and Marketing and a member of the management team at the Amsterdam Museum. He also regularly presents public programmes, both on stage and through other media such as podcasts and television.

BoArte Culture Prize

As a writer, Maurice made his debut in 2010 with the novel Ego Faber, published by Ambo Anthos Publishers, which was awarded the BoArte Culture Prize in 2011. From 2009 to 2016, as founder of Nieuwe Letteren, the foundation behind the annual Young Writers’ Evening, he also offered a platform to dozens of young writers. In October 2017, his second novel Een tragedie in New York was published by Ambo Anthos.
