Career

Kiki developed an awareness of climate change at a young age, which grew into a mission to make an impact at the political level. From leadership positions at LAKS and the Dutch Youth Climate Movement to her role as a UN Youth Representative, she has actively worked to involve young people in the climate debate and translate their ideas into policy.

As part of the Dutch negotiating delegation to the UNFCCC, she worked closely with government ministries and contributed to the development of the UN Declaration on Future Generations. In preparation for the Summit of the Future, she organized workshops focused on shaping the future, gathering insights and perspectives to represent during her speaking engagements.

Her experience in diplomacy taught her an important lesson: the difference between optimism and hope. While optimism assumes a positive outcome, hope requires action. It is something we actively create and sustain through what we do. And that action can be found everywhere.
