About Malou Petter

After graduating from the School of Journalism in Utrecht, Malou began her career at NOS Jeugdjournaal, the Dutch national news programme for children. As a presenter and reporter, she travelled around the world, covering stories in Sint Maarten following Hurricane Irma, at the Moria refugee camp on Lesbos, and during the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea. Her report on poverty in Sint Maarten won the EBU Kids News Award in 2019 for the best children's news report in Europe.

NOS

In 2014, Malou joined NOS Jeugdjournaal as a permanent staff member, working as a reporter and presenter until 2020. She then moved to NOS Journaal, the Dutch national news broadcast. Alongside presenting daily news bulletins, she hosted major live broadcasts, including coverage of the 2020 US presidential election results and the 2021 Dutch general election. She also presented special broadcasts for King's Day, Liberation Day, and other major NOS events.

Nieuws van de Dag

In 2025, Malou joined Talpa Network to co-host the daily talk show Nieuws van de Dag on SBS6 alongside Art Rooijakkers. After eight months, she decided to leave the programme because she disagreed with its editorial direction. Her departure attracted widespread media attention and considerable public support.

Event Host, Debate Moderator and Presenter

Malou has hosted several major events, including the Zilveren Camera and De Tegel award ceremonies, two prestigious Dutch journalism awards.

She is also an experienced debate moderator, working with organisations such as the Amsterdam Metropolitan Region, the Dutch Police Academy, and the Municipality of Arnhem during the Avond van de Goede Moed event.

In the podcast Op Gevoel, she interviewed people with visual impairments, exploring their personal experiences and perspectives.

Sessions

Malou Petter became one of the familiar faces of NOS Journaal, the Dutch national news broadcast, working as both a studio news anchor and an on-location reporter.

She graduated from the School of Journalism in Utrecht in 2012. Although she had already been accepted into a master's programme in Television Studies at the University of Amsterdam, she quickly changed her plans when NOS Jeugdjournaal offered her a position as a freelance news editor following her internship.

In September 2019, Malou moved to NOS Journaal as a reporter and, from the summer of 2020, also as a news anchor. Alongside the daily news broadcasts, she presented major NOS live programs, including election night coverage of the 2020 US presidential election and the 2021 Dutch general election.

In this role, she followed in the footsteps of well-known Dutch presenters Herman van der Zandt and Dionne Stax. Born in 1990, Malou became known as a fresh and dynamic presence at NOS Journaal.
