Paul Schenderling studied Economics and Business Economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam from 2006 to 2012, graduating cum laude. From 2012 to 2023, he worked as a senior advisor at Berenschot, where he advised governments and companies on social and ecological issues from an economic perspective. Between 2014 and 2017, he was also a part-time lecturer in Economic Theory and Public Finance at Tilburg University.
Movement for the new economy
Since 2023, Paul has been a board member of Postgroei Nederland, a growing movement with the mission to make the Netherlands happier within the limits of people and the planet. In 2024, the movement ranked 17th in the Trouw Sustainable 100. In addition, he is managing director of Sufficiency, a centre for research and advisory on broad prosperity and the new economy. Paul advises ministries, local governments, companies, civil society organizations, political parties and parliamentary committees.

Books and publications
His book "Er is leven na de groei" (There Is Life After Growth), published in 2022, was reprinted ten times, nominated as Political Book of the Year and placed the topic of post-growth firmly on the agenda in the Netherlands and Flanders. His latest book Continent van de Kwaliteit (Continent of Quality), published in 2025, presents an innovative vision for Europe and is being translated and published in several European countries.
