About Rico Bakker

Rico Bakker is an entrepreneur and creative at heart. He speaks about creativity, innovative thinking, and ‘The Power of a Bad Idea.’ When he was young, he was easily distracted. His attention jumped from one thing to another, and in high school he was diagnosed with ADHD NOS. People called it an attention problem, but Rico saw it as his greatest asset. It allows him to be agile and creative.

Rico as a Speaker

Rico Bakker is a speaker who presents creativity and innovation in an accessible and humorous way. With relatable anecdotes and practical tools, he takes his audience through his philosophy of ‘The Power of a Bad Idea.’ As the creator of the ‘Bad Ideas Podcast,’ he shares inspiring and quirky stories, encouraging others to think outside the box. Rico’s presentations are interactive and humorous, effortlessly engaging and inspiring his audience. His motto, “Act a little crazy, and you’re already doing fine!” reflects his belief that creativity and innovative thinking are within everyone’s reach. Whether he speaks on creativity, agility, or his own experiences, Rico always offers fresh insights and practical takeaways.

Looking for more than just a keynote on ‘The Power of a Bad Idea’? Rico also delivers masterclasses where he teaches your team, through interactive presentations and tailored content, how to address specific challenges directly. By focusing on creativity, change, and innovation, he helps audiences think differently and step outside conventional paths to generate breakthrough ideas together.

Making Innovation and Creativity Approachable

Rico feels restless when creativity is absent. He likes to approach things just a little differently himself and struggles to watch organizations get stuck in traditional patterns. His mission? To make innovation and creativity fun and approachable. No airy buzzwords or post-it sessions, just practical tools that help you think innovatively.

The Power of a Bad Idea

Rico uses ‘bad ideas’ to spark creativity. He now gives lectures across the country on ‘The Power of a Bad Idea.’ In 2020, he started the Bad Ideas Podcast, interviewing experts and experienced practitioners about creativity. Many good ideas come from experimentation, serendipity, and yes, bad ideas.

Recently, Rico published his first book, ‘The Power of a Bad Idea.’ In it, he advocates for embracing the bad idea and teaches how to come up with them using unconventional techniques and investing (creative) time and energy. His advice: live more often as if it’s your first day.
