Sessions

For an ambitious law student, it can seem almost inevitable: internships and job applications on Amsterdam’s Zuidas. But how do you know exactly what you want? Is it possible to pursue your ideals from the very start of your career? Today, many students are looking for a job where they can also contribute to society. Yet studying law remains highly competitive, and the glamour of the Zuidas is hard to resist...

Sophie enjoys speaking to law students about her journey within the competitive legal profession and the development of her career. After several experiences on the Zuidas, she ultimately chose to take a slightly different path.

Sophie speaks clearly about current legal developments in sustainability. Corporate law offers many opportunities to, for example, hold directors more accountable for a company’s sustainability plans. But is this always desirable? What are the advantages and disadvantages?

Sophie advocates for greater mandatory climate expertise and greater generational diversity in boardrooms, both on executive and supervisory boards. She calls on companies to critically reflect on whom we currently favour as corporate directors, and whether this is always the most logical approach in times of crisis. Sophie is not afraid to challenge and energise an audience, while always seeking connection: how can we bring everyone along towards a more balanced boardroom culture?
