Babette Labeij (1973) is a versatile musician who began her career as a backing vocalist for artists such as Edsilia Rombley and René Froger. After releasing her debut album Babette and the follow-up Keep Playing, she performed with her band ‘Babette & Friends’. She lent her voice to the Dutch version of Hercules and reached the finals of the 2004 National Song Festival. Career
Babette began her career as a singer and backing vocalist, collaborating with renowned artists and performing with her own band. She released her first album in 1997 and her second in 2010. Since 1995, she has given singing lessons and in 2001 founded her own music school in Amsterdam. She became the leading vocal coach in the Netherlands through her work on TV programs such as The Voice of Holland, Idols, X-Factor, Popstars, Kinderen voor Kinderen, and the Junior Songfestival. She has written and composed songs for Kinderen voor Kinderen and guided countless artists toward performing on stage. Internationally, she contributed as co-author for the Dutch entries at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2018 and 2020 and worked as a coach on the Latin American La Voz Kids.
Entrepreneurship and Education
Babette is the founder of the Babette Labeij Music Academy, offering singing lessons to children, teens, and adults, from beginners to professionals. She also launched the online platform SING! by Babette, making her years of experience and unique singing method accessible to a wider audience. In her book ZING!, she shares her vision on singing and encourages readers to use their voice as a tool for self-expression and personal growth.
