Frank de Ruwe is an Industrial Design Engineer. He is the son of an inventor and was the founder of Creative Studio Natwerk. Frank is now a full time artist. To the general public, he is also known as Streetart Frankey, who can be seen weekly with a column in Het Parool. His work has been shown at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and in various exhibitions across Europe and the United States. Over the past year, he has frequently been in the news because of the Lego version of Dutch singer André Hazes that he placed on Dam Square in Amsterdam.
His greatest hits include Jean Claude van Damme, in his signature split between a V shaped concrete pole behind the OBA, his stained glass guerrilla ode to Johan Cruijff in the tram stop of line 14, the bronze statue of Eberhard van der Laan at pop temple Paradiso and the so called Saunaman, steaming above the then still under construction North South line. And it does not stop there, because he is also a presenter for BNN and holds two world records.
