In this lecture, Marian explores the most effective stress management method she knows: EFT, or Emotional Freedom Techniques. She explains how it works and why it is effective. EFT can also be used as a self-help tool.
The first part of the workshop will be informative and theoretical, while the second part will be interactive, allowing participants to practise EFT themselves. Emotional Freedom Techniques, abbreviated as EFT, is a treatment technique in which you gently tap on a number of points on your face and upper body while simultaneously focusing on a traumatic experience and repeating short phrases. The points you tap are the endpoints of a number of important meridians. In Eastern medicine, it is believed that illness and emotional complaints are caused by an imbalance in the body’s energy system. By tapping on the acupuncture points, the energy system is brought back into balance and the complaints disappear. The emotional charge attached to difficult situations, memories or trauma is released, meaning they can no longer trigger a stress or panic response. It is a particularly effective method for addressing stress and letting go of old emotional pain.
The great thing about EFT is that you can learn to use it yourself, including in a group setting. During this workshop, Marian explains the basics of EFT, giving participants the opportunity to put them into practice straight away.
In this lecture, Marian explains the anatomy of emotional problems, making it clear what causes stress. When dealing with anxiety, it seems logical to focus on the apparent cause of your worries: the flight you have to take, the speech you have to give, your overdrawn bank account, a loved one who has not been in touch, an illness, or the performance you are expected to deliver.
But we can also look at it differently: by examining how an anxious person thinks about themselves. Much of the unrest in our minds is caused by the belief that we are not good enough, do not belong, are not attractive enough, or are not successful enough. It always has to be better and more. This is a feeling that we are constantly exposed to and triggered by in our society, often without being aware of it. How does this work, and how can you break free from it?
