Although the Quote 500 features people from very different backgrounds, there are clear factors that explain why they belong to the financial elite of the Netherlands. This also means there is plenty of valuable advice for those aspiring to earn a place on the list, as well as for those who would rather remain under the radar. Paul van Riessen discusses these insights with flair and humour. He also enjoys highlighting the eccentricities of the wealthiest people in the Netherlands. Expect a lively multimedia presentation, enriched with striking visuals and naturally tailored to your audience.

About Paul van Riessen
Paul van Riessen views his career at Quote as that of an anthropologist exploring the world of big money. He stepped down as editor in chief of the business magazine in the summer of 2025. During his 21 years there, after being recruited by Jort Kelder, he continued to be cheerfully fascinated by everything he encountered. He observed how fortunes were made, how they were spent and how others tried to get their hands on them.
Driven by boundless curiosity, Paul sees this world as a fascinating spectacle and a rich source of compelling stories. It was precisely this desire to uncover great stories that originally led him into journalism. He began his career at a regional newspaper before moving behind the camera. As an editor for the outspoken consumer programme Breekijzer, he learned how government organisations and major companies operate. Before joining Quote, Paul also spent several years at BNR Nieuwsradio, including as a parliamentary correspondent.
Paul has always enjoyed speaking behind a microphone. He has appeared as a guest on numerous radio and television programmes, presented 35 episodes of the podcast series Mijn Eerste Miljoen and launched the podcast Leergeld in the summer of 2025.
After leaving Quote, Paul remained active as an independent media professional. The entrepreneurial spirit shared by so many people in his network had clearly proved contagious.
