About Sander de Hosson

Sander de Hosson studied medicine in Groningen and completed his specialist training in pulmonology at Martini Hospital. Since 2012, he has worked as a pulmonologist at Wilhelmina Hospital in Assen. He has written several medical textbooks, including Probleemgeoriënteerd denken in de Longgeneeskunde (Problem-Oriented Thinking in Pulmonology), as well as books on chest X-rays and chest CT scans.

Since his training, Sander has been committed to raising awareness of palliative care by organizing symposia and lectures. He also authored the textbook Probleemgeoriënteerd denken in de Palliatieve Zorg (Problem-Oriented Thinking in Palliative Care).

In 2013, he began writing columns about his work for websites and later for Dagblad van het Noorden and Leeuwarder Courant. His collected columns were published in the book "Slotcouplet", which became a bestseller. He is also active on social media and is the most-followed Dutch physician on Twitter.

For his work in palliative care, Sander de Hosson has received the international Global Lung Cancer Journalism Award and the Elisabeth Kübler-Ross Medal.
