About Camiel Jansen

Camiel Jansen is a composer, entrepreneur, and presenter who is always looking for the connection between ideas and our society. In his projects, he translates between people and music. Camiel won the Keep an Eye Production Prize in 2022 and received the Rogier van Otterloo Award in 2023.

 

Speaker and Moderator

In his talks, he aims to provide his audience with practical tools to develop their own creativity and offers simple techniques for creating changes in their thought patterns.

 

Composer

He composed a symphonic work for the NTR ZaterdagMatinee and the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, featuring texts by Ramsey Nasr, who also performed the texts as part of the piece. De Fundamenten premiered at the Concertgebouw in December 2024.

He also composed the music theater production MUHAMMAD, in which he transformed Muhammad Ali's most legendary boxing match, The Rumble in the Jungle, into music; the concert series MURAKAMI, in which he translated a book by Haruki Murakami into music; MARS:, a mini-opera about humanity's upcoming journey to the planet Mars; and Small World, a film symphony about a mouse for the Asko | Schönberg ensemble. Camiel's works are frequently performed by orchestras and at festivals.

In 2024, Camiel received the Rogier van Otterloo Award from the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds, including a composition commission for the Jong Metropole Orchestra and a €10,000 prize. He is also a frequent guest on Radio 1 and NPO Klassiek and has been interviewed several times in NRC, Parool, Trouw, and de Volkskrant in connection with his premieres.

Camiel also teaches at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. In addition, he presents the radio program Voor de Dag on NPO Klassiek on behalf of KRO-NCRV.

 

Entrepreneur

As an entrepreneur, Camiel is co-founder of Yellowbloom. Since 2017, Yellowbloom has produced music for advertisements and films. Within the company, Camiel works closely with advertising agencies, film producers, directors, and creatives. He helps translate a client's core values into a clear musical direction, strengthening and amplifying their message.

Sessions

As a speaker, Camiel Jansen fully engages his audience in his story. He talks about how individuals, teams, and organizations can use creativity to create tangible change, and provides simple tools and practical guidance to do so. Through his extensive experience in developing creativity, both as a composer and as an entrepreneur, he has a strong understanding of his own creative language, while also recognizing how often people struggle to come up with and develop new ideas.

Yet this is precisely one of the most effective ways to change our thoughts and the world around us. With humor and a touch of flair, Camiel encourages his audience to take action, sending them home with a new toolkit for initiating change.

Change starts with an idea, but how do you distinguish brilliant insights from less successful concepts? In the session Uit Volle Borst, participants discover how curiosity and creativity can be used to inspire and convince others. This unique stage concept combines talk and music, creating a deeper connection between the audience and the theme.

The session not only offers an inspiring break during conference days, but also challenges participants to explore and apply their own creativity.

Camiel Jansen is a presenter for NPO KX. With his creative perspective and endless curiosity, he knows how to spark valuable conversations between speakers and the audience. As a moderator, he makes sure everyone in the room feels heard and encourages the audience to connect with one another.
