Wiesje Hillen is an energetic presenter and reporter with a background in journalism and a keen sense of atmosphere, content and interaction. You may know her as a presenter on RTL Tonight, where she highlighted the day’s most remarkable news stories. She has also worked as a reporter for 112 Vandaag and EditieNL. Earlier in her career, she could be heard as a radio DJ at NPO Campus, and today she is also regularly booked as a ring announcer, having competed in two boxing matches herself.
From early stage experience to journalistic drive
Wiesje first appeared on a film set for Cinekid at the age of six and later sang with Kinderen voor Kinderen. The seed had been planted: presenting was her calling. After completing a strong science-based education, she therefore chose not to study medicine, but enrolled at the Utrecht School of Journalism. There, her curiosity proved to be a powerful driving force. On her own initiative, she travelled to Kosovo to report on tensions in Mitrovica. It was an early sign of her courage, determination and sharp journalistic instinct.
Behind the scenes at talk shows and out on location with the camera
After an internship at RTL Late Night, Wiesje worked as an editor on programmes including M, BEAU, De Ochtendshow to go for AD and De slimste mens. She contributed creative ideas, wrote scripts and helped develop formats, but the desire to return to the floor herself remained. As a reporter for NH Nieuws, she was given the opportunity to step back in front of the camera, which eventually led to a role at 112 Vandaag on RTL5. Here, she combined journalistic reporting with editorial work behind the scenes, including for Casa di Beau.
A fresh voice at EditieNL
Since late 2024, Wiesje has appeared as a reporter on EditieNL. This role brings together everything she does best: her curiosity, her sharp eye for social trends and her ability to make topics light and accessible to a broad audience. She quickly connects with people, asks the one question that stays with you and adds colour to every report without compromising her journalistic integrity. This makes her not only a versatile reporter, but also a powerful presence on stage.
The upbeat voice of RTL Tonight
In 2025, Wiesje was given her own segment on the daily talk show RTL Tonight. Every weekday, she explored the day’s most remarkable news stories, online trends and viral videos. From international curiosities to striking internet phenomena, she selected and produced all the content herself.
With her infectious energy and sharp journalistic instincts, she managed to inform and entertain the audience. Her segment brought lightness to the studio without losing sight of the substance. It earned her the nickname “the digital detective”.
