Development

What started as a passion for car design and engineering has now grown into the largest sports car factory in the Netherlands! In 1993, under the name Duck Hunt, and from 2000 under the name Burton Car Company, Iwan Göbel and his brother Dimitri started a small business converting Citroën 2CVs into pick-ups and Lomaxes. Within a short period of time, they sold hundreds of Lomaxes and pick-ups, and the company has since grown into the largest sports car factory in the Netherlands and one of the most successful 2CV shops in the world! In 2005, Iwan was named the ‘100% Best Entrepreneur in the Netherlands’.

Today, Burton Car Company operates through four companies in more than 20 countries. In 2010, Burton Car Company introduced the ‘Burton Electric’. This fully electric sports car has a 25 kW motor and weighs just 500 kilograms. This makes the Electric one of the most sustainable sports cars in the world.

Sustainability is also a topic Iwan is passionate about. In 2008, he co-authored Ecowinst voor woningen with Sarah Monkau and sold more than 10,000 copies. The book discusses how saving energy is not only environmentally friendly, but also financially attractive.
